Sunnyvale Tournament
The Fog made an impressive debut in the Sunnyvale A-level tournament, May31-June 1. Playing against teams that have played in as many as a half-dozen tournaments this spring, the team won two games against the Milpitas Renegades, and tied the Hayward Wolfpack, losing only to the Belmont Flames.
High points for the Fog included Danica’s 28 innings pitched with only one earned run allowed (two games were shutouts and one a no-hitter) and 34 strikeouts. Annabel went 5-for-15, with a clutch double to knock in Megan (who also doubled) to tie the Wolfpack game in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the first Renegades game, Elena had a two-strike triple, and was then singled in by Tighe to take the lead. The first Sunday game was a nailbiting 0-0 tie through seven innings, and we won in the eighth-inning tiebreaker when Lola knocked in Elena. There were sparkling Fog defensive plays throughout both days.
